Done Is Better Than Perfect

Done Is Better Than Perfect.png

Done is better than perfect. It's a hard but important lesson to learn no matter what creative project you're working on.

It doesn't mean you don't do your best. It doesn't mean you slack off and deliberately create something half-assed. It doesn't mean you don't give it your all.

It just means that at some point, you need to accept that done is better than perfect.

In the self-help world, there's been a lot said and written about this principle. Contrary to what we believe, perfection is not actually a virtue. Not completing something because you want it to be perfect is a symptom of some underlying troubles. Perhaps you're not confident the end result will be good enough. Perhaps you're scared to put it out there in the first place. If you dig a little deeper into your perfection compulsion, you'll find it might not be about perfection at all.

And besides, there's no such thing as perfect! Sure, we can strive for it, but we can't forget that it's an unattainable ideal there to set us on the right path but not something actually achievable.

So, if you're working on any sort of project, give it your best, and that will be more than enough.
